Recipe: Florida Mule

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

The perfect spicy summer cocktail.

Moscow mules are delicious on a hot summer day, so it makes sense that you can find them in Disney under the Florida sun. But to really Florid-ify the traditional mule, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar came up with its own summer creation: the Florida Mule. The Florida Mule is a Flavors of Florida exclusive, but it’s oh-so-easy to make. It’s simply Florida cane vodka, ginger beer, orange juice, and simple syrup served in a Flavors of Florida Corkcicle. The only thing we couldn’t get was the special Corkcicle glass — and we also went with our favorite vodka, but who’s counting?

Florida Orange Juice Mule

Florida Mule

Yields 1 cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces vodka

  • 3 ounces ginger beer

  • 1 ½ ounces orange juice

  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup

Instructions:

  1. If you’re not using store-bought simple syrup, you can make it with a 1:1 ratio of granulated sugar and water. Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Continuously stir until the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat, and allow to cool.

  2. Fill a mule mug with ice. Add vodka, ginger beer, orange juice, and simple syrup. Stir to combine and adjust to taste.

Takeaway:

As you can imagine, this cocktail was incredibly simple to make. It’s basically just a sweet Moscow mule that kind of tastes like a spicy screwdriver. If you don’t love mules because of the ginger beer, this is a great choice because the orange juice overpowers the spicy ginger flavors. Overall, it’s a great summer cocktail that makes us want to be sitting by a resort pool.
