Mac and cheese just tastes better when it's served in a Mickey-shaped bread bowl!
One of the new items for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary is the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese Breadbowl. This delicious meal can be found at Refreshment Corner (located at the end of Main Street, U.S.A.). It features creamy mac and cheese in a sourdough bread bowl, topped with pineapple-BBQ pulled pork and green onions. The bread bowl even has Mickey ears!

Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese in a Bread Bowl
Yields 8 servings
Ingredients:
Bread Bowls
Small loaves of sourdough bread
Mac and Cheese
1 lb cavatappi noodles
¼ cup unsalted butter
¼ cup all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 cup milk
1 ¼ cup heavy cream
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
Pulled Pork
1 package of pulled pork
Pineapple BBQ sauce
Green onions (for garnish)
Instructions:
Mac and Cheese
Prepare the cavatappi noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
In a medium pot, melt the butter over low heat.
Slowly whisk in the flour, salt and pepper to form a roux. Make sure to continuously whisk so the mixture does not burn.
Slowly add in the milk and heavy cream, while continuously mixing.
Stir in the garlic powder and paprika and bring the heat up to medium.
Stir occasionally while the sauce thickens. Once the mixture starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low.
Add in the shredded cheese, a bit at a time, stirring until melted.
Pour the cheese sauce over the noodles, and stir until the noodles are fully coated.
Pulled Pork
Heat according to package instructions
Once heated, add in pineapple BBQ sauce and toss until fully coated.
Assembly
Cut a circle out of the top of the loaf of sourdough and remove it to create a bread bowl.
Cut the circle piece in half to act as the Mickey ears.
Scoop a serving of mac and cheese into the bread bowl, then top with some pieces of the coated pulled pork.
Garnish with green onions and enjoy!
Review:
This was a delicious meal! The mac and cheese was very creamy and paired well with the sweet pineapple BBQ pulled pork. You can make the bread bowls yourself if you have a sourdough starter or buy small loaves from the store or a farmers market. You could also skip the bread bowl as well and just top the mac and cheese with the pulled pork. Any way you choose is sure to be delicious!
