Recipe: ‘Ohana Noodles
How to make ‘Ohana Noodles at home.
To celebrate the release of Moana 2, we decided to recreate one of our favorite dishes from ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — the ‘Ohana Noodles. These noodles are a fan-favorite and so easy to make at home!
‘Ohana Noodles
Yields 6 servings
Ingredients:
Sauce
1 cup brown sugar
¾ cup soy sauce
⅓ cup rice vinegar
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 piece of ginger, peeled and grated
2 tablespoons canned pineapple juice concentrate
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Noodles
1 package yakisoba noodles
1 cup coleslaw mix (shredded red cabbage, green cabbage, and carrots)
Olive oil
Instructions:
Cook the yakisoba noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside to cool.
Add brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to a medium saucepan and stir to combine.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-low heat.
In a small bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice concentrate and cornstarch to make a slurry.
Once the sauce mixture has come to a simmer, add in the pineapple cornstarch slurry.
Bring the sauce to a boil and cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
To a frying pan over medium heat, add some olive oil and saute the coleslaw mix for about 4 minutes.
Add the cooled yakisoba noodles to the frying pan with the vegetables and toss together.
Strain the sauce into the pan of noodles through a fine mesh strainer to remove any chunks.
Toss together until the sauce is incorporated and enjoy!
Review:
These noodles are really good! They work well as a side dish on their own or you could add a protein to it to make it a delicious main dish! The pineapple flavor really comes through in the sauce and gives it a nice tropical vibe. You can store any leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the microwave.
