Disney Board Games That Aren’t For Kids

Updated: Apr 8, 2022

Game night just got a little more fun!

Grab your snacks, some beers, and your favorite pals because it’s time for game night. If you have fond memories of family game nights and want to relive those competitive nights, we’ve rounded up our favorite Disney board games that aren’t for kids. These games will give you a dose of Disney magic while challenging you with loads of strategy and adventure. They make the perfect gifts for Disney fans or are a great item to have in your collection. Scroll through to find you new board game obsession!

Villainous

In Villainous, each player has their own villain, realm, villain deck, and fate deck. On your turn, move within your villain’s realm and perform the actions listed on the board. To win the game, you must complete your villain’s objective, while avoiding being “fated” by the other villains who are trying to stop you.

The original Villainous launched in 2018 and includes Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Jafar (Aladdin), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Captain Hook (Peter Pan), Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland), and Prince John (Robin Hood). Since then, Ravensburger has released four expandalones, which each include three new villains that you can play alongside the original Villainous or as their own box. The expandalones include:

Wicked to the Core with the Evil Queen (Snow White), Hades (Hercules), and Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog).

Evil Comes Prepared with Scar (The Lion King), Yzma (The Emperors’ New Groove), and Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective).

Perfectly Wretched with Cruella de Vil (101 Dalmatians), Pete (Steamboat Willie), and Mother Gothel (Tangled).

Despicable Plots with Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), Lady Tremaine (Cinderella), and The Horned King (The Black Cauldron).

Bigger and Badder with Syndrome (The Incredibles), Lotso (Toy Story 2), and Madam Mim (The Sword and the Stone).

The Haunted Mansion — Call of the Spirits

In Haunted Mansion, you explore the rooms of the ghost-infested mansion while collecting ghost cards in each of the iconic locations. Match ghost cards to score more points, but beware of the Hitchhiking Ghosts who move throughout the mansion to haunt the players. The objective of the game is to be the player with the highest score after the final round ends.

Jungle Cruise Adventure Game

Welcome aboard the Jungle Cruise! In this game, you’ve been hired to transport a boatload of passengers and cargo down the river to the Jungle Navigation Company Headquarters, but be prepared to lose some of them during your treacherous trip. Once you reach headquarters, the president, Alberta Falls, is going to name one family as the temporary caretakers, and your new bosses, of the company — and those families are riding the Jungle Cruise! Find the family who will be the new caretakers while Alberta is on leave to earn more points. To win the game, be the player who has the most precious passengers and cargo aboard their ship once you reach headquarters.

Hocus Pocus: The Game

They say it’s a bunch of hocus pocus, but in this cooperative card game players must work together to stop the Sanderson sisters from creating their potion before the sun rises. Each player takes turns placing an ingredient card in the cauldron and when all the ingredient cards match in color or symbol, the witches are stunned. But of course Winifred, Sarah, and Mary have some extra tricks up their sleeves.

Marvel Villainous

Similar to the original Villainous game, in Marvel Villainous you play as one of five Marvel villains — including Thanos (Avengers: Infinity War), Hela (Thor: Ragnarok), Ultron (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Killmonger (Black Panther), or Taskmaster (Black Widow). Move your villain to different locations, including other players’ domains or global events, and carry out actions to fulfill your objective. In this version, the Fate deck is shared between all players and, in addition to each villains’ specific Fate cards, there are general Fate cards featuring the strongest heroes in the galaxy — the Avengers.

Additionally, Marvel Villainous has an expandalone called Mischief & Malice that features Loki (Thor), Madame Masque, and M.O.D.O.K.

FunkoVerse

Players choose their favorite character to duke it out in one of four game scenarios. Use your characters’ special abilities to challenge other characters and complete the scenario objectives. The first player to the specified amount of points wins.

Similar to Villainous, each FunkoVerse game can be played on its own or with the other expansions — including with the non-Disney themed games.

Disney Sidekicks

Play as your favorite sidekicks — including Abu, the Good Fairies, Timon and Pumbaa, Tinkerbell, and Lumiere — as they team up with all other players to rescue the heroes who have been captured. The objective of this game is to rescue the heroes, save the villagers, and defeat the villains. Though be warned, the villains will throw everything at you to stop you from entering the castle.

Hail Hydra

Play as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent as you take back the Cosmic Cube and defeat Red Skull, but look out because there are evil HYDRA secret agents that have infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. Use your skills to determine who is lying and knock them out. Complete missions to get to the final battle with Red Skull and defeat him to win the game.

MUNCHKIN: Disney

Are you really a Disney fan? Prove it in this game of MUNCHKIN where you race to become the top Disney fan to win. Fight villains, find allies, and collect gear and treasure to level up to the top Disney fan at Level 10.

Monopoly: Disney Villains Edition

Play as your favorite Disney villain — including Cruella de Vil, Jafar, Scar, Evil Queen, Maleficent, and Captain Hook — as they buy and sell villain contracts to determine who is the most evil of them all. The more villain contracts a player has, the more money they collect. Use your characters’ special powers as you go around the board and be the last player with money to win.

CLUE: Disney Villains

This collectible game puts a Disney twist on traditional Clue. The villains are up to no good and one of them has stolen an enchanted object and hidden it in a lair. Play as either Dr. Facilier, Jafar, Maleficent, Ursula, Hades, or Evil Queen to find out who has stolen which object and where they have hidden it.
